Tottenham transfer news: Dele Alli set to stay with Christian Eriksen move unlikely

Dele Alli looks set to stay at Tottenham for the foreseeable future and will only leave the club if a deal can be done to sign Christian Eriksen.

GFFN claim that a move to Paris Saint-Germain for Alli is now “very unlikely”, despite the midfielder’s hopes to join up with Mauricio Pochettino.

Daniel Levy is reportedly unwilling to let Alli leave without a replacement lined up, although Eriksen is not expected to leave Inter. The former Spurs man has struggled to establish himself under Antonio Conte, but chief executive Giuseppe Marotta, in an interview with DAZN, has insisted he could still “have an important role in the team”.

Meanwhile, Danny Rose’s long-awaited exit could be further delayed. The 30-year-old is reportedly still waiting for offers after a proposed move to Turkish side Trabzonspor fell through earlier in the month.

There could be other outgoings, too, as Jose Mourinho looks to trim down his squad. Paulo Gazzaniga, having lost his status as Hugo Lloris’ deputy, is believed to be searching for a new club in Spain, while Gedson Fernandes could be on his way to Galatasaray.

The Benfica midfielder, currently on loan at Spurs, has played only 14 games over the last year, and his deal with the Premier League side looks set to be terminated prematurely.

A statement on Galatasaray’s website read: “Official negotiations have started with football player and club SL Benfica regarding the temporary transfer of professional football player Gedson Carvalho Fernandes to our club.”

The Evening Standard claim that Spurs might also look to offload some youngsters, amongst them forward Kazaiah Sterling, who recently returned from a spell with League Two side Southend United.

There has also been talk of Tanguy Ndombele’s potential connections with Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder, exceptional for Spurs this season, has spoken of his discussions with Kylian Mbappe and left the possibility of a move to the Ligue 1 champions open.

“I’m a boy from the Paris region. Wearing the Paris jersey one day? Why not – but today I’m in Tottenham, and it’s going well,” Ndombele told Telefoot.

“I spoke with Kylian about a possible coming to PSG. Two or three years in a row we discussed it. It didn’t happen and today at Tottenham it’s going well, but why not in the future?”
